Touching the Heart Awards Nominations are now being accepted nation-wide
For TEACHERS WHO ARE TOUCHING HEARTS!!!

WHAT:

Touching The Heart Awards Luncheon

WHEN: July 17, 2004 - Hyatt Regency Los Angeles

Chino, CA: BRIGHT START EDUCATIONAL CONSULTANTS is a national company who trains parents on literacy, personal wellness, effective parenting and developing success in their children And THE REMEDIAL READING & LEARNING CENTER, a 35 year-old After School Program of Los Angeles announces the launch of its¹ TOUCHING THE HEART AWARDS SHOW to be held on July 17, 2004 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in downtown Los Angeles.

Bright Start & The Remedial Reading & Learning Center will spotlight TEACHERS at their 1st Annual National Touching the Heart Awards, which recognize and spotlights teachers who are making a difference in today¹s community. They have the spirit and passion of what teaching is about!!!

According to Bright Start¹s President, Gary Sonora Surdam: "From the very beginning of our company, we felt that there is more to being a teacher than just teaching material. It takes a teacher that can touch the hearts of the children to make a difference. A teacher that can touch a child¹s heart can change the world. When your life has been touched, you are never the same. We are very happy to be presenting this Awards Show in partnership with The Remedial Reading & Learning Center of Los Angeles."

Antoinette "Toni" Laudemilk, Executive Director of The Remedial Reading & Learning Center is excited to be a part of this awards show: "Teachers are our unsung heroes. They need to be rewarded for the knowledge they impart to our children. Frequently, knowledge doesn't come from books. It comes from individuals who care, not only about the academic skills their students are developing, but the emotional growth as well. It's about creating the whole child and our Awards provide students the opportunity to give something back to that special teacher."

Anyone can nominate a teacher. Along with your application, submit a 1,500 words-or-less essay about the person nominated. Entries are broken into three (3) categories teachers in elementary, middle school and high school (3 finalists in each category). Nomination deadline is May 1, 2004 at 5:00 p.m. via U.S. mail or email. Finalists will be notified on June 1st. Four special awards will also be given to teachers one is selected through submissions by current or former students, a special Legacy Award, Teachers Training Teachers Award and an Award to a Teacher who is retired.
